Vanguard Dermatology 37-58 91st St.

Aug. 3, 2020 Sponsored Story

Vanguard Dermatology, a leading dermatologist practice with locations throughout New York City, has opened a Jackson Heights office and is now accepting patients.

The office, located at 37-58 91st St., opened the first week of July and replaces the Vanguard Elmhurst office on Junction Boulevard since the practice outgrew the space.

The state-of-the-art center has a variety of medical, cosmetic and surgical dermatology services available. The center has a diverse staff, including Spanish speakers.

Vanguard offers skin cancer screenings, Botox, acne treatments, hair growth, coolsculpting, facials, rosacea care and much more.

The practice stands out from other dermatologists because it has its own in-house surgeons who can perform Mohs micrographic surgery for removal of cancerous cells, as well as removal of skin tags, moles and other growths.

Insoo Om, PA-C, the head physician’s assistant at the Jackson Heights office, specializes in medical hair loss treatments as well as dermatology for people of color.

Om developed his own unique non-invasive and painless technique to stimulate hair growth about 20 years ago and a majority of his patients sought him out specifically for hair loss issues. The treatment is a medical procedure and covered by most health insurance policies as a result.

Om — who attended elementary school in Jackson Heights many years ago — aims to provide personalized care to each and every Vanguard patient.

He takes pride in creating the atmosphere of a local neighborhood fixture at the practice.

“Even though I’ve worked several years in Central Park with movie stars and models as my clientele, I’d still rather go back to a small neighborhood and treat somebody who will hold your hand and kiss your hand and say ‘God bless you,'” Om said.

“That you can’t put a money value on. It’s a whole different satisfaction that you get out of working at a neighborhood, like Jackson Heights.”

He said serving the area where he once attended school fulfills his desire to give back to the community.

“I like to go back to the neighborhood,” Om said. “It sounds very cliché when you say you’re giving back to the neighborhood, but I always feel like that’s what I’m doing.”

Om has glowing online reviews and ranks second among nearly 680 dermatologists in New York City on the website RateMDs.

Many reviewers called Om the best in the business and said they would 100 percent recommend him to others.

“Dr. Om is phenomenal, he takes the time to address your needs and what you didn’t know you needed,” a reviewer named Julissa wrote. “Very honest and dedicated to his clients. I can confidently say I love him as a doctor and that’s a first.”

Another reviewer said Om was her first dermatologist ever and that he exceeded her expectations.

“Let me tell you he was amazing,” she wrote. “He made me feel extremely comfortable, he took the time to answer all my questions [and] his bedside matters were beyond my expectations.”

Om sees patients at the Vanguard Jackson Heights office on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — though more days and times will be added in the near future.

Vanguard takes walk-ins, but encourages patients to schedule appointments ahead of time. Patients can request an appointment online or by calling (212) 398-1288.

Vanguard has offices in Forest Hills, Greenpoint and many others. Click here to see a list of locations and to find one near you. Virtual appointments are also available.
