Two Men Found Dead in Williamsburg Apartment: NYPD

The police are investigating the death of two men who were found in an apartment in Williamsburg yesterday.

Police received a call at around 11:30 a.m. Monday and were asked to check in on the occupants in a fifth floor apartment at 20 Debevoise Ave. The police discovered two men—a 49-year-old and a 61-year old—both dead inside the location.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The identities of both men have yet to be released.

In an effort to get more young people involved in civics, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards has created a new advisory panel known as the Youth and Young Adult Council to introduce the “youngest and fiercest” community advocates to both community service and organization.

Members of the advisory body will advocate concerns through means of community engagement by participating in one of two cohorts. The Brooklyn Academy of Music will memorialize Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with weekend of events leading up to the 37th annual MLK Tribute on Monday, Jan. 16.

The main event takes place on Monday when BAM staff, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, civic leaders and community members will join together to hear a keynote speech from civil rights lawyer and law professor Sherrilyn Ifill and enjoy performances from Sing Harlem and Allison Russell.
