Three Attempted Robberies; Potential Hate Crime in Williamsburg: NYPD

Aug. 13, 2019 By Shane O’Brien

The police are investigating a series of attempted muggings involving Jewish men in Williamsburg as potential hate crimes.

The NYPD is looking for a group of teenagers who are thought to have carried out three attempted robberies in the space of 40 minutes in Williamsburg in the early hours of Monday morning.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Unit announced via Twitter early Monday that it was investigating the crimes since all the victims were Jewish men between the ages of 56 and 71.

The three attempted robberies took place on Ross Street, Clymer Street and Whyte Place between 5 a.m. and 5:40 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12.

Each of the victims sustained facial injuries during the course of the attempted robberies. Two of the men were taken to Bellevue hospital as a result of their injuries.

The first attempted robbery occurred at 80 Ross St., 5 a.m. when a 71-year old man was approached by three teens who punched him in the face and searched his pockets.

The teens fled the scene on foot when they were unable to steal anything. The man was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

The second attempted robbery took place at 5:30 a.m. at 91 Clymer St. This time, the teens punched a 67-year old man in the face and searched his pockets. Again, they failed to steal anything and fled the scene. The man refused medical attention at the scene.

The final known attempted robbery of the morning took place at 626 Whyte Pl. at 5:40 a.m., about 100 yards away from the scene of the robbery on Clymer Street. The teens punched a 56-year old man in the face and searched his pockets. The teens got nothing and fled the scene. The man was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

The teens were caught on CCTV and were observed to be black. CCTV also showed that there were at least four individuals involved.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of these individuals is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or on Twitter @NYPDTips.

No such a thing as hate crime or a robbery charge with The Kings county district attorney . Jury full of unemployable failures and educators will always acquit .

Good kids. They need access to fresh fruit and vegetables and other programs so they won’t join gangs, deal drugs, and rob people.

I think the "whatabout Obama!" thing is kind of dated now

Even “whatabout Hillary” fell out of favor. Time to update your trite phrases.

Black people can be antisemites

Like when they were chanting “the Jews will not replace us” at the Trump rally in Charlottesville?

I wonder if there's a connection to our white nationalist president?

Like when they were chanting “the Jews will not replace us” at the Trump rally in Charlottesville?

I agree, Trump inspires anti-semitism.

> AOc plus 3 and their antisemitism

Is there a single reason to believe this? Other than Daddy Trump tweeting it once, without any sources?
