Runners will take over Kent Avenue on June 16. (The Brooklyn Mile)

June 12, 2019 By Laura Hanrahan

For the fourth year in a row, the Brooklyn Mile will be returning to Williamsburg.

The single mile race where runners speed down Kent Avenue will kick off on Sunday, June 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Runners will begin near S 10th Street and Kent Avenue and head north, finishing just outside of East River State Park between N 8th and N 9th Streets. Participants will be sent out onto the route in waves, with an invite-only Fast Movers Mile finishing up the race mile-long race before a set of relay races begin.

At the end of the route, inside East River State Park, post-race activities and an awards ceremony recognizing the top runners will take place.

The Brooklyn Mile is a non-profit road race benefitting the New York City chapter of Girls on the Run NYC, a nation-wide physical activity-based youth development program. All of the proceeds from Saturday’s event will go toward the variety of running programs offered to girls in grades 3 through 8.

Race registration fees are $40, or $10 for kids 11 years or younger, and interested participants can register online.
