Rock Climbing Center to Open on border of Greenpoint/Williamsburg Next Year

July 11, 2018 By Christian Murray

A massive rock climbing facility will be opening on the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg next year.

Vital Climbing, which operates rock climbing and fitness centers on the West Coast, is opening a facility that will be among the largest climbing gyms in New York City.

Another Vital Location

The center will be located at 1 Nassau Ave., which is currently the site of an old warehouse building.

Vital plans to demolish the warehouse and build out a 46,000 square foot space, according to CBRE, the real estate firm that put the lease together. Vital aims to open the climbing facility in the summer of 2019.

The gym will be Vital’s fifth location and the first in New York City. The other facilities are in California and Washington state.

“We’re excited to become part of the New York climbing community,” said David Sacher, co founder of Vital in a statement. “People come to Vital to challenge and open themselves up to a world of new experiences.”
