via NYPD

March 21, 2018 By Nathaly Pesantez

Two men paired up to steal packages from a Williamsburg building lobby, according to the NYPD.

The duo went inside a building by Lorimer and Scholes Streets just before 7 p.m. on Feb. 13, and quickly stuffed two small packages into a book bag, police said today.

One of the men acted as a lookout as the other placed the brown packages in the bag, according to police.

The two then fled the building in an unknown direction, police say.

The NYPD describes one of the suspects as a dark skinned male with eyeglasses. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, a brown “bubble” coat, black sweatpants, and black and brown sneakers.

The second man is described by the NYPD as a dark skinned male with a beard and mustache, and last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater, a black hooded coat, blue sweatpants, and black sneakers. He also carried a black backpack.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. Clearly, neither perpetrator is “dark-skinned”…. They’re both much lighter than I – and I’m nowhere near dark-skinned. What’s the agenda here…? That said, I hope this video results in the arrest of these two lowlife thieves. We work too hard to have sorry bandits steal our possessions. Personally, I chase loiterers out of my building lobby when I encounter them – and never, ever allow another to tailgate into my building when I enter.

I know that it is very difficult or near impossible for many working people but the best way to counter this is by not having packages delivered. Either buy them in the store, have them delivered to a friend or family nearby that can sign for them or in a safe local drop off place near you. At the very least you should not have anything of significant value delivered to you if you are not home.

The guy taking the packages look like a “dark-skin” male. ?. I guess all NYPD see is dark skin. No matter who commits the crime.

High times! Where to celebrate 4/20 in Brooklyn

Apr. 18, 2024 By Meaghan McGoldrick O'Neil & Emily Davenport

The phenomenon of 4/20 — weed-smokers’ unofficial holiday — dates back to the 1970s, when a group of California high school students would meet at 4:20 p.m. to search for a rumored, abandoned cannabis crop. While their search proved fruitless, the term “4/20” stuck, eventually becoming synonymous with cannabis culture and a rallying point for enthusiasts worldwide.
