A late Oktoberfest event is coming to Greenpoint for three consecutive days this week that seeks to bring an authentic Munich experience to Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Oktoberfest will take place from Oct. 20 through Oct. 22 at the 9,000 square-foot Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse, located at 73 West Street. Attendees will be able to drink German beer, eat traditional Oktoberfest foods, and listen to live music from four musical acts in a venue decorated with Bavarian blue and white ceilings, authentic festival tables, and benches imported from Germany. The beers will be exclusively provided by The Reinheits Boten, a group of five independent German craft breweries in the U.S.

The event is separated into five “day” and “night” sections, each four hours long. A single evening session is planned for Friday, with day and night sessions for Saturday and Sunday. General admission tickets are priced at $40.00, and include entry and the first liter of beer. Reserved seating is available for an additional $5.00.

Attendees can also choose to purchase VIP tickets at $100 when booked in groups of 4 or 8. The ticket includes reserved seating, jagermeister shots, a brotzeit and sausage platter for the group, and access to private bathrooms.

The Alex Meixner Band will play on Friday and Saturday night, as well as Sunday during the day session. The Heimatklange Band will play on Saturday during the day event, and the Bratwurst Boys will play the final Sunday evening event.

The event is organized by the owners of Brauhaus Schmitz, a German restaurant and beer hall based in Philadelphia since 2009. The restaurant is known for holding Oktoberfest festivals, with Greenpoint’s festival a first for the group.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketfly.

High times! Where to celebrate 4/20 in Brooklyn

Apr. 18, 2024 By Meaghan McGoldrick O'Neil & Emily Davenport

The phenomenon of 4/20 — weed-smokers’ unofficial holiday — dates back to the 1970s, when a group of California high school students would meet at 4:20 p.m. to search for a rumored, abandoned cannabis crop. While their search proved fruitless, the term “4/20” stuck, eventually becoming synonymous with cannabis culture and a rallying point for enthusiasts worldwide.
