A surveillance camera around McGolrick Park will feed live video to the NYPD, an update that comes less than a week after the murder of a Greenpoint man.
The live video capabilities come after the NYPD increased the system’s bandwidth. The feed, provided via an Argus camera already in place, will go directly to the headquarters of Patrol Borough Brooklyn North, where police will have access to the livestream if needed. The camera can be tilted in multiple directions.
A spokesperson for the NYPD said prior to the update, police would have to go to the physical camera itself to retrieve video footage.
The livestream feature was made available on Wednesday, according to police.
George Carroll, 42, was killed while walking across McGolrick Park with his wife last Friday. Police are still on the look out for Cary Correa, the 19-year-old suspect in the killing.
