NYC Beer Week 2018 will kick off this Saturday with an opening party in Greenpoint and dozens of events through the five boroughs.

The opening bash, which organizers describe as the week’s “premiere event,” will take place on Feb. 24 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Brooklyn Expo Center, located at 72 Noble St. More than 70 breweries are expected to participate.

Tickets for three-out-of-the-four admission categories for this event have already sold out, with the “Tardy Bird” as the only remaining option. These tickets, via Eventbrite, cost $80, and include beer samples and a souvenir glass.

The participating breweries include all companies from the five boroughs as well as New York state and out-of-state breweries. A food court and music will also be featured at the opening event.

While the bash is set for Saturday, Beer Week’s slew of parties, tastings, festivals, and other events began today, with the five-borough challenge in Lower Manhattan. The free event showcased all the beers made in breweries across the city, where attendees can determine the top five breweries to make it to the finals next month for a prize.

Upcoming Beer Week events taking place this weekend include a tasting event in Kips Bay for foods made with beer, the first ever Fermentation Festival at the Brooklyn Expo Center, and a home-brew competition in Dumbo.

The 2018 NYC Beer Week, organized by the NYC Brewers Guild, will go through March 4.

Last year’s Beer Week saw 400 events spread over 10 days.
