The MTA will be opening two new sets of stairs and a mezzanine extension at the Bedford Avenue L train station on March 25, the agency announced tweet on Sunday.

The upgrades, part of the L Train reconstruction project, will provide two new staircases between the mezzanine and platforms that are 50 percent wider than the current stairs. The MTA hopes that the new stairs will help to distribute riders to less crowded areas of the busy platform.

Work has also been done to extended the station’s mezzanine to create space for two new elevators—one from Bedford Avenue to down the mezzanine, and another from the mezzanine to the platform—that will make the station ADA accessible.

Work has been ongoing at the Bedford Avenue station since November 2017, with the first of two new station entrances opening in June of last year.

The transit authority warned that while they finish up the project—the last phase of which is installing two new sets of stairs from the mezzanine to the platform—there will be crowding on the platforms.
