Service on the G line will be limited this month, as the MTA is suspending weekend train service to several stops for maintenance work.
Beginning Sept. 7, and for the following three weekends, service between Court Square in Queens and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues in Brooklyn—roughly half of the line—will be suspended for track maintenance and station improvement work, according to information from Council Member Stephen Levin’s office.
Service will also be out between those stops on the first weekend of November, with no weekend outages in October noted.
G service will continue to operate between Bedford-Nostrand Ave and Church Av in Brooklyn.
Free shuttle buses will operate between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand during the weekend closures from 9:45 p.m. on Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday. Additionally, service posters with shuttle bus information will be in all G stations.
MTA NYC Transit says the repairs are generally related to making the line better for increased service starting next year, when the L train shuts down between Brooklyn and Manhattan for 15 months of repairs.
The agency also notes the closures will help prepare the Greenpoint Ave station for the new elevator, as crews as set to begin construction this month.
The G line service suspension comes as NYC Transit is also shutting down L train service on weekends in October and other dates down the line prior to the Canarsie tunnel shutdown.
