Happy Zoe Vegan Bakery has moved to a new home in the neighborhood, and will be opening its doors to the public on Saturday.
The vegan bakery, which opened on Herbert Street just beside the BQE in 2017, is now located just a few blocks away at 102 B Nassau Ave., with a grand opening to be held on Dec. 22.
Sisters Agata and Paulina, who did not want to disclose their last names, said they moved their business so that it could be closer to an alternative subway line before the L train shutdown next spring—a move many North Brooklynites are also embarking on.
The bakery features a wide range of cafe items including whoopie pies, cookies, cakes and sandwiches and even pizza rolls.
Organic coffee, smoothies, and teas are also available, along with gluten-free donuts and crepes, all made without dairy, eggs or other animal products.
“Our parents taught us from a very young age the love and the respect for the animals,” Paulina told the Greenpoint Post. “We have been vegan for over 20 years and working on our recipes for a very long time. Cooking and baking vegan food is a passion for our family, we always wanted share the vegan love through food.”
The sisters, who grew up in Warsaw, Poland, hope to show the Greenpoint community that they are able to enjoy all of the baked goods they love without the use of animal products.
The new location, slightly larger than the former space, became available at the right time and for the right price.
“We just jumped at the opportunity and made a move,” Paulina said.
The grand opening will run from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and the store will be open for business from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
