Two ferry landings in the area are currently out of service, with repairs to one of them taking up to two weeks to carry out.

The Greenpoint Landing at India Street went out of service yesterday afternoon, while the South Williamsburg Landing at Kent Avenue has been out of service since May 27.

“Service to Greenpoint landing is temporarily suspended due to unexpected landing maintenance,” reads an alert posted on NYC Ferry’s website yesterday. “All East River route ferries will bypass Greenpoint until further notice.”

NYC Ferry tweeted about the Greenpoint landing’s closure at around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, and said normal service is expected to resume today, May 31, in time for the afternoon rush hour commute.

Ferry riders can take a shuttle bus from the corner of India and West Street to the Hunters Point South ferry landing in Long Island City for ferry service.

Meanwhile, the South Williamsburg landing is also out for repairs. An EDC spokesperson addressed the issues with the South Williamsburg landing in a statement:

“Following inspection of the South Williamsburg landing over the weekend, we identified the need to replace the marine piles. As passenger and operational safety will always be our top priority, we have temporarily closed the landing and hope to resume service within the next two weeks. To accommodate riders in the interim, NYC Ferry is providing free shuttle bus service to the nearest ferry landing.”

The EDC said the South Wiliamsburg landing is one of the oldest in the ferry system, and that the type of repair is common infrastructure work.

Work on the South Williamsburg landing could take up to two weeks, but the timeline for completed repairs can change over the next few days, the EDC said.

Riders here can also take a free NYC Ferry shuttle bus to the North Williamsburg ferry landing.

The EDC did not include information on the Greenpoint landing’s repairs and what caused the need for them.

For updates on repair work and other service changes, follow NYC Ferry on social media or check the service alerts page on their website.

Update 6/1: Ferry service to the Greenpoint Landing was restored at midday yesterday.
