Greenpoint Man Arrested in Assault of 8-Year-Old Boy

Bogdan Piasecki was placed under arrest on Tuesday. (NYPD)

June 13, 2019 By Laura Hanrahan

A Greenpoint man has been placed under arrest after allegedly punching an 8-year-old boy in the head last month.

Bogdan Piasecki, 47, was apprehended on Tuesday and charged with assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

The victim’s mother, told the Greenpoint Post that she was walking with her two young sons on Norman Avenue early in the morning of May 24 when Piasecki began walking toward them. He allegedly claimed that they were taking up too much space on the sidewalk and got upset.

Piasecki, who lives on Diamond Street, allegedly began cursing and pushing her, at which point she tried to push him off. Piasecki then allegedly punched her 8-year-old son in the head.

Construction workers from the nearby Greenpoint Library approached the scene, and Piasecki took off and went into the Queens-bound Nassau Avenue G train station.

While her son sustained minor physical injuries, she says he has been left extremely fearful following the assault.

“He has such bad anxiety, he thinks I’m going to get hurt when I drop him off at school,” says the mother. “Both of my sons are dealing with it because my 10-year-old was there too.”

Piasecki, who has no prior criminal history, will appear in Kings Criminal Court on Aug. 5. He could not be reached for comment.

Seriously – u guys have no idea what REALLY happened. I do. All this fake news – Trump quote – yet all the sheep believe what the press twists & manipulates to sell their papers. Bogdan was the victim – yes he has a big mouth, doesn’t know when to just let it go, but he was shoved by the female in the story, yes he cursed her out but the only physical activity was from her. Please get the REAL facts straight before judging. This can very easily happen to any & every single individual, & when it hits home – then the ones that are saying deport, throwing insults like POS… well maybe then they will realize that it sucks & hurts when total strangers are so disrespectful, lacking compassion, understanding or common sense in general. I beg you people that don’t even know this man – who goes out of his way to help anyone & everyone, complete strangers included, is such a caring person, just take a moment & look inside yourselves, & realize that the news is very selective in their facts solely for increasing sales.

You stated that you were there… implying that you witnessed this firsthand I’m assuming, correct? In your comment you also said the following —> “He just kept harassing and trying to hit them. I reported this to the police.” My inquiry is as follows, “trying to hit them” versus making physical contact which is indicative of assault – which is what the female is accusing him of & what she accused him of to the police as well as this article. I’m wondering if you offered yourself as a willing witness to testify in court based on you seeing this firsthand with your own eyes, considering you mentioning on a public forum that “He just kept harassing and trying to hit them. I reported this to the police.” I already posted in my comment that he has a big mouth & doesn’t know when to let it go, so I do agree that by cursing, being overly dramatic or belligerent is harrasment, yes, but you actually proved my initial point that physical contact/assault never occured, & you also stated that you did tell the police that as well. Trying to hit is not the same as assaulting someone. You did the right thing telling the police, in an attempt to diffuse the situation & being honest with what you witnessed… my largest point is the false news being printed based on someone’s word. I’m so happy that you witnessed this & clarified that “He just kept harassing and trying to hit them. I reported this to the police.” Trying to hit them being the operative words. Thank you Tomaz. I hope you will do the right thing by coming forth as a witness to testify in court. We need more people like you that step up & do the right thing when they see something happening.
