McGuinness Boulevard and Norman Avenue (Google Maps)

A cyclist was killed in a collision with a box truck on McGuinness Boulevard yesterday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of McGuinness Boulevard and Norman Avenue. The victim was a 58-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification to his family.
An NYPD spokesperson said that the victim was waiting at a red light in the right southbound lane of McGuinness Boulevard, as was the box truck driver.
After the light turned green, the truck driver started changing lanes. The victim then appeared to fall off his bike, the NYPD spokesperson said, landing in the path of the truck’s rear tires. Police could not say how fast the truck was traveling.
The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital with body trauma and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Yesterday’s death was the 17th cyclist fatality on city streets so far this year, and came just hours after a 17-year-old cyclist was killed in a crash with a tow truck on Staten Island. Yet another cyclist was critically injured in an SUV crash in Woodhaven, Queens early Wednesday morning.

I seebbikers drive recklessly, and people in vehicles drive like the ‘New York Minute’ will be over any second. The bikers lose in this contest. Everybody needs to slow down and follow the rules.
To be a Victim there must be a crime or illegal action of some sort. By labeling the Biker a Victim this article has judged, declared and passed sentencing on the Truck –the Truck is now a Criminal. Where is innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt? A biker riding along side cars can fall off their bike which causes them to land in the roadway without any fault to the cars. Bottom line: Fatal to mix bikers with automobiles and doing so people will continue to be injured in accidents (though still not Victims)
And more proof that combining bikes with cars does NOT work and is not a solution for poor mass transit, environment or anything else. This article lists injured bikers, why no list or article of pedestrians injured by bikers? Recently 2 reports in this paper of robbery and the get away vehicle was a Citi-Bike.! Bikers do run into and injure pedestrians. Read how this bias is written “truck driver started changing lanes” the truck has the legal right to change lanes. Next “victim then appeared to fall off his bike” well just because ‘victim’ appears to falls off his bike, how is this the fault of the truck and why label the biker a ‘victim’. Here is a Key Point: For the Biker-Victim to land into the truck’s rear tires, the Biker-Victim has to be ahead of or in front of the truck. By labeling the biker a ‘victim’ this article is condemning and accusing the truck with the express malicious intent of attacking the biker ‘victim’.
The truck driver was not charged, bozo. Nobody said it was the truck driver’s fault, the article just recounts what happened. Also, a person who got killed by non natural causes is called a victim no matter what.
