A 35-year-old Brooklyn prosecutor was struck and killed by a bus Monday while she was riding her bicycle through South Williamsburg.
Sarah Pitts, a Senior District Attorney with Brooklyn D.A. Eric Gonzalez’s office, was riding a bike eastbound on Wythe Avenue around 12:35 a.m. when she struck by a charter bus which was driving northbound on the intersecting Williamsburg Street, police said.
EMS rushed Pitts, who lived in Clinton Hill, to Bellevue Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Pitts joined the Brooklyn DA Office in 2018 and was assigned to the Appeals Bureau.
“Our office is devastated by and mourning the tragic death of Senior Assistant District Attorney Sarah Pitts,” Gonzalez said in a statement. “She was a brilliant and compassionate lawyer dedicated to seeking justice. We are overwhelmed by this sudden loss.”
Gonzalez added that Pitts was an avid cyclist.
The charter bus that struck her belonged to Excellent Bus Service, according to the New York Daily News. The driver remained at the scene and has not been charged.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Pitts’ death follows a similar incident in Woodside last week. A 50-year-old cyclist was struck and killed by a MTA bus Wednesday night when he ran a red light.
Williamsburg News tweeted photos and videos of emergency services responding to collision involving Pitts Monday morning and stated that the “biker passed a red light.” However, police could not immediately confirm that Pitts had ran a red light.
