NYPD can now receive livestream from McGolrick Park after bandwidth upgrade

McGolrick Park/NYC Parks

Aug. 25, 2017 By Nathaly Pesantez

A surveillance camera around McGolrick Park will feed live video to the NYPD, an update that comes less than a week after the murder of a Greenpoint man.

The live video capabilities come after the NYPD increased the system’s bandwidth. The feed, provided via an Argus camera already in place, will go directly to the headquarters of Patrol Borough Brooklyn North, where police will have access to the livestream if needed. The camera can be tilted in multiple directions.

A spokesperson for the NYPD said prior to the update, police would have to go to the physical camera itself to retrieve video footage.

The livestream feature was made available on Wednesday, according to police.

George Carroll, 42, was killed while walking across McGolrick Park with his wife last Friday. Police are still on the look out for Cary Correa, the 19-year-old suspect in the killing.

Cool, casual and full of flavor, Pasta Night is a charming Prospect Heights hangout

Jun. 30, 2025 By Kacie Moschella

When you think about meals that beat the heat, a big pile of pasta may not be the first thing that comes to mind. But if your family traces back to Southern Italy like mine does, a lovingly prepared bowl of cacio e pepe is actually the perfect heat wave dish. Dense mafalde noodles cooked al dente and smothered in a simple cheese sauce, plenty of Parmesan cheese grated on top and just a few pepper flakes make for a perfect hot summer lunch in my book.
