Police are searching for a suspect who attacked a 9-year-old boy in Williamsburg on Sunday in a possible anti-Semitic hate crime.

The 9-year-old was walking home around 6 p.m. on Nov. 25 when the attacker approached and punched him several times in the face on the corner of Throop Avenue and Walton Street before fleeing.

The boy was left in pain and with swelling, but refused medical attention at the scene, police say.

The incident is being investigated by the Hate Crime Task Force as the boy was wearing traditional Jewish garments at the time of the attack, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The suspect is described as a black teen between 14 to 18 years of age, with a light complexion and medium build, and about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie with a black patch on the sleeve, dark jeans and white sneakers.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-8477, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
