7-Story Building to Go Up on Empty Union Avenue Lot in Williamsburg

526 Union Ave. in March (NYC ZoLa)

Permits have been filed for a seven-story apartment building on Union Avenue less than a block away from the BQE.

The building is planned at 526 Union Ave., the current site of an empty and fenced off lot, and will span more than 35,800 square feet.

The 70-foot tall building will hold 43 units, with a mix of five, six, and eight apartments on each floor. The top and second floors, however, will only have three units each with private terraces.

The building includes an 880 square foot rooftop terrace for tenants, 23 enclosed parking spaces, and 42 spaces for bike storage.

The property is owned by Northside Capital Management, which purchased the site last year for $11.3 million, records show.

The prior owners, the Alliance Private Capital Group, purchased the property in 2014 for $9.6 million, and filed plans in 2015 for a six-story, 37 unit building at the site before selling the property.

The empty lot was once the parking lot to Bamonte, the longtime Italian restaurant.

Northside Capital Management did not immediately respond to questions on the development’s timeline.
