60 Affordable Housing Units Up for Grabs in Large Greenpoint Development

Applications opened today for 60 affordable housing units in an 8-story apartment complex in Greenpoint.

The affordable units, located in a 197-unit building at 211 McGuiness Blvd., include studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedroom apartments. Applicants have until March 6, 2019 to apply, and units will be awarded to qualified tenants via a lottery.

Studios will start at $1,045 per month, with two-bedroom units going for as high as $2,795 per month.

The building, called Otto Greenpoint, features a rooftop pool and garden, library, game room, 24/7 doorman, tenant lounge, fitness center, storage and parking.

Five studio apartments are available for $1,045 per month for individuals making between $42,206 and $58,480. Two studios will be offered at $2,201 per month for individuals making between $81,840 and $95,030.

The majority of the units—43 apartments– are one-bedrooms, with 28 of those units being offered for $1,064 per month. To qualify individual renters must make between $44,675 and $58,480, and households of two must have a combined income between $44,675 and $66,800.

Fifteen more one-bedrooms are available for $2,320 per month for individuals making between $87,738 and $95,030 or two people making between $87,730 and $108,550.

There are 10 two-bedroom units on offer, with seven of them going for $1,276 per month and are available to households between two to four people. Income requirements begin at $53,143 and top off at $83,440 for a household of four.

An additional three two-bedrooms are available for $2,795 for households making between $87,738 and $135,590.

Rent includes gas for cooking but tenants will be responsible for electricity and electric heating.

Preference will be given to applicants who already live in New York City, with additional preference for residents of Brooklyn Community Board 1, municipal employees and those with mobility, vision or hearing impairments.
