Two new ‘affordable’ housing lotteries have opened in Williamsburg and Bushwick, with rent starting at $2,050 for a studio.
Five units inside a newly constructed building in Williamsburg and three units in a new building in Bushwick are up for grabs through the city’s housing lotteries. The units are open to people who make up to 130 percent of the area median income.
Two studio apartments and three one-bedroom units are available for $2,050 and $2,250 a month respectively at 312 & 314 Keap St in Williamsburg.
The studios are open to households of one to two people who make between $70,286 and $111,020 combined annually. The one-bedroom units are open to households of one to three people who make between $77,143 and $124,930 combined annually. A full breakdown of the income requirements is below.
The building features a rooftop area, a card-operated laundry room, split unit heating/cooling and some apartments have backyard access. The one-bedroom units have large private balconies as well.
The building is near the G, J, M and Z subway lines, as well as the B24, B44, B46, B60, B62 and Q54 buses.
Tenants are responsible for paying for utilities, including heat and electricity.
Three one-bedroom units are available for $2,245 a month at 216 Boerum St. in Bushwick.
The units are open to households of one to three people who make between $76,972 and $124,930 annually. A full breakdown of the income requirements is below.
The building features split unit heating/cooling and is near the L subway line, as well as the B43 and B60 buses.

The deadline to apply to the Williamsburg housing lottery is March 4 and the deadline to apply to the Bushwick housing lottery is March 5. Mailed-in applications must be postmarked by respective dates.
While the units are given out to eligible applicants through a lottery, some preference is given to applicants with vision, mobility and hearing disabilities.
Each building will receive a tax exemption for participating in the affordable housing program.

That’s not affordable housing. That rent is like paying for a mortgage for a house. Get real
Its so laughable to claim that $2,050 for a STUDIO is considered “affordable”.
Affordable to who? The average New Yorker brings home an average of $500 a week after getting raped by the IRS. So how is that affordable? Not everyone wants to live in a 15ft by 12ft box. Then they wonder why everyone leaves this city once they retire, if they live that long.
