Police are searching for a man who stole a fellow straphanger’s new iPhone 11 aboard a northbound J train at the Marcy Avenue station last month.
The man, shown in the video above wearing a blue hoodie, was riding a northbound J train on Sept. 29 at 8:11 p.m. when he snatched a 26-year-old man’s iPhone 11 right from his hand, as the train pulled into the Marcy Avenue station, according to police. The suspect fled the train at Marcy Avenue with the victim chasing behind him.
The victim caught up to the man near 190 Marcy Ave and demanded his phone back. He attempted to grab it back, but was punched in the face causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then removed the victim’s wallet from his pocket, while he laid on the ground, police said.
The victim then offered $200 to the man in exchange for his phone, but instead the man in the blue hoodie fled the scene with both his phone and money, according to cops.

If he had find my phone turned on he could have frozen the phone and made it useless to anyone. even a shady tech repair shop. Its one of the security features built into every iPhone. the phone is then “bricked” and worth $50 to $100 in parts. Otherwise useless to anyone. On the other hand this is proof that when getting mugged, you don’t fight and you don’t chase them. Not only did he get hit, but he lost both phone and his $200. Not to mention he could have been killed.
That would have been bad
