A man is dead after an out-of-control car crashed into the security booth he was inside in Greenpoint last night.
At about 8:04 p.m., the driver of a 2017 Ford Explorer lost control while making a left turn from Provost Street onto Paidge Avenue and went careening off the road striking a security booth at 59 Paidge Ave, where a 72-year-old man sat inside, according to police.
The man suffered trauma about his legs and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 62-year-old male driver of the Ford Explorer remained at the scene, police said.
The identity of the deceased hasn’t been released yet, as police work to notify family members.
There have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
