A Williamsburg man was killed Friday evening after he was struck by the driver of a Ford pick-up while crossing Maspeth Avenue in East Williamsburg.

Jose Rubi, 51, was crossing mid block on Maspeth Avenue at around 5 p.m. on Jan. 11 when a 46-year-old man behind the wheel of 2015 Ford pick-up truck, traveling eastbound on the avenue, made a left turn onto Vandervoort Avenue and struck him, police said.

EMS responded to the scene near 184 Maspeth Ave. and found Rubi with injuries to his torso and head. He was then transported to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner later determined on Jan. 13 that Rubi died as a result of his injuries from the collision.

The driver of the car, a 46-year-old male, has not been arrested and the investigation remains ongoing.
