Man Arrested After Stealing Motorcycle in Williamsburg: NYPD

Police have arrested a man suspected of stealing a motorcycle outside a Williamsburg apartment building last month.
Scott Mandell, 52, was apprehended on Monday just after 10:30 a.m. and charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, according to police.
The East New York resident allegedly stole a blue 2003 Suzuki motorcycle from the side of 544 Union Avenue on the afternoon of Aug. 8.

But entering 2025 on the heels of this win, we residents at  Murray Hill Cooperative remain at risk — our lives are virtually unchanged because we belong to the last class of unprotected “tenants” as ground lease co-op residents. Without legislative action, more than 25,000 New Yorkers face the threat of losing their homes — homes that we own — to landowners seeking to raise our ground rent to astronomical rates.
