Man Dead After Being Run Over by Box Truck in East Williamsburg: NYPD

A homeless man was killed yesterday after a box truck he was lying under moved out of its parked spot in East Williamsburg.

Police say the man was under the truck near 1177 Flushing Ave. just before 5 p.m. on Aug. 14, when the driver of the box truck pulled out of the space, crushing the man underneath and leaving him with severe body trauma.

EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The victim was reportedly taking shelter from the rain when he was killed. The police have yet to release the man’s identity, pending family notification.

The driver was reportedly making a delivery at the location, and stopped for about 30 minutes before the incident occurred, according to News 12.

No arrests have been made and the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is continuing to gather information about the incident.
