An artist known for her large-scale, hyper-realistic black-and-white drawings will be opening an exhibit in Greenpoint Thursday that includes a seven-room house, with each room and its furnishings coated in a distinct color from the next.

“MONOCHROME”, the name of CJ Hendry’s newest exhibit, features a make-shift home made with 12,000 plastic blocks, which took five days to build out, according to her Instagram page.

The free exhibit, her fifth as a solo artist, begins with an entirely blue living room, which then leads into a red dining room and a green kitchen. A yellow bedroom is next, followed by a purple bathroom and pink bedroom.

Videos on Hendry’s Instagram show several home appliances and clothing undergoing monochromatic paint jobs and fixes for the exhibit. A chair, for example, was completely covered in daisies after it was spray painted yellow. A toaster and its chord appear covered in green paint. Jeans, spray-painted in pink, hang from magenta hangers to dry.

Hendry said the exhibit is a chance to experiment with color, a departure from her hyper-realistic drawings that have gotten the attention of Christian Louboutin, Kanye West, PUMA, and her thousands of followers.

“I am new to color, not too sure if I understand it yet,” Hendry said in a press release. “Before, when I drew in black ink all the focus was on the object because all the emotion of color was removed. Now I stare at my drawings and feel…just different I can’t explain it”.

She also spoke to the new show on social media: “This is probably the first show where I am truly testing my creative side,” Hendry wrote on March 4. “…Being able to actually be more wild with my thoughts has been exhausting and f— fun.”

“MONOCHROME” will open on April 5 through April 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 276 Greenpoint Ave.
