Permits have been filed for a new five story building on Frost Street, off Meeker Avenue.

The mixed-use project, with an address of 137 Frost Street, will rise to a height of 55 feet, and contain 27 residential units, building records show. The building will span to over 23,000 square feet.

Floors two through four will have seven apartments each, while the fifth floor will hold the remaining six units.

The proposed building will feature retail space on the ground floor totaling 660 square feet.

The development also includes a laundry room, 14 off-street residential parking spaces, 14 bicycle parking stations, and a recreational exercise room.

The Brooklyn-based architecture firm Avalon Designs is behind the building’s design.

Property records show the Frost Street location was purchased by Shulem Herman, an investor, for $5.35 million in 2015. Herman recently made headlines for purchasing Brownsville’s Pitkin Avenue theatre for $53 million in 2017.

Herman filed demolition permits for the two-story commercial building at the Frost Street site back in August.

The developer did not immediately respond to questions about the project.
