Man Steals Exotic Bird From Petland in East Williamsburg, Police Say

Police are searching for a man reported to have stolen an exotic bird from Petland Discounts in East Williamsburg earlier this week.

The incident happened on Dec. 5 at around 5 p.m., when the man walked into Petland Discounts on 92 Graham Ave. and broke into an exotic bird cage, according to police.

Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the suspect removing the bird, a blue Quaker, from its cage, and then stuffing it in his jacket pocket. He then fled in an unknown direction, according to police.

The bird is valued at $500, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The NYPD describes the suspect as Hispanic, 25 to 35 years of age, and last seen wearing a gray hoody, black jacket, and blue jeans.
