Davey’s Ice Cream has opened its newest location in Greenpoint, and is celebrating its grand opening by giving free scoops away to visitors from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m on Oct. 17.

The shop is located at 74 Meserole Ave., at the former Mona Lisa Coffee Shop site, and is the fourth Davey’s Ice Cream location in the city.

The locale serves 11 ice cream flavors, including staples like chocolate and vanilla flavors and unique creations like “strong coffee”, “speculoos chocolate chip”, and pretzel, all of which will be given out for free and with unlimited scoops for today.

The corner ice cream shop also offers baked goods like chocolate brownies, cookies, and waffle cones, and can seat about 20 people inside, according to Stephanie Rodriguez, operations manager for the site. Outdoor seating is also planned for the locale.

Davey’s Ice Cream, which has appeared on Zagat’s “Best Ice Cream Shops in NYC” and was labeled the best ice cream in the city by the Village Voice, makes ice cream on their premises using natural and fresh local ingredients.

The shop was conceived of by David Yoo, a former full-time graphic designer. The first location opened in 2013 in the East Village, and has expanded to Williamsburg and Canal Street.

The Greenpoint location will open at around noon every day and close at around 8 p.m. for now until the managers are set on a time based on the neighborhood’s activity.
